چکیده
In this talk we will discuss several two-level additive Schwarz preconditioners for a weakly over-penalized symmetric interior penalty (WOPSIP) method. The WOPSIP method belongs to the family of discontinuous finite element methods. Theoretical results on the condition number estimate of the preconditioned system will be presented along with numerical results. THE DISCRETE PROBLEM Let Ω be a bounded polygonal domain in R. Consider the following model problem: Find u ∈ H 0 (Ω) such that a(u, v) = (f, v) ∀ v ∈ H 0 (Ω), (1) where f ∈ L2(Ω) and

Schwarz Domain Decomposition Preconditioners for Interior Penalty Approximations of Elliptic Problems
We present a two-level non-overlapping additive Schwarz method for Discontinuous Galerkin approximations of elliptic problems. In particular, a two level-method for both symmetric and non-symmetric schemes will be considered and some interesting features, which have no analog in the conforming case, will be discussed. Numerical experiments on non-matching grids will be presented.

We introduce a new symmetric interior penalty method for symmetric positive definite second order elliptic boundary value problems, where the jumps across element boundaries are weakly over-penalized. Error estimates are derived in the energy norm and the norm for both conformi...
متن کاملInterior penalty preconditioners for mixed finite element approximations of elliptic problems
It is established that an interior penalty method applied to secondorder elliptic problems gives rise to a local operator which is spectrally equivalent to the corresponding nonlocal operator arising from the mixed finite element method. This relation can be utilized in order to construct preconditioners for the discrete mixed system. As an example, a family of additive Schwarz preconditioners ...
متن کاملA Weakly Over-penalized Symmetric Interior Penalty Method for the Biharmonic Problem
We study a weakly over-penalized symmetric interior penalty method for the biharmonic problem that is intrinsically parallel. Both a priori error analysis and a posteriori error analysis are carried out. The performance of the method is illustrated by numerical experiments. 1. Introduction. Recently, it was noted in [9] that the Poisson problem can be solved by a weakly over-penalized symmetric...
